Jaguar XJ4.2C Auto
SOLD
Signal Red (258) – 1977 – 45,000 miles – 1 owner – no service – no history
Available unrestored or as a Miles Classic Restored or Modernised option
A very unusual find this one, a Jaguar coupe with just one former keeper but with absolutely no history whatsoever. All documentation is claimed to have been misplaced in a property move by the second owner and there is very little in the way of leads to research.
At the moment, a letter has been despatched to the first owner though there has been no reply and since he purchased the vehicle in 1977 the chances are that he has moved on.
A very solid car, the last owner has made some effort to keep up to it, but has in all honesty spent money in the wrong area. The interior is almost like new, having been re-trimmed very recently, whereas the bodywork and paint finish has been neglected and tidied up rather cheaply. So whilst presenting as an OK car, it will need a full bodywork restoration before it comes up to the standard of the interior.
With the very rare addition of a factory fitted sliding steel sunroof, when the windows down and sunroof is open this car feels all the way like a convertible and unlike the less than effective full conversions of the 70s, retains the very pretty profile of the original car.
So all in all, this is a wonderful project car with some very nice touches which when restored will transform it into an interesting and worthy useable or competition standard classic.
